Sandra Saenz, Shangri La’s next Artist in Residence, is an internationally-recognized makeup and visual artist who is disrupting the beauty industry and breaking stereotypes. She is the first Mexican hijabi makeup artist to secure agency representation in the USA and has been described as a “positive rebel.

Saenz recently visited Shangri La in April to conduct research on the museum’s collection as part of her Residency. Saenz will return to Shangri La in August 2023 to complete her work for Shangri La and participate in community-focused programming.
