Ustad Ikhlaq Hussain Khan (b. Pakistan) is a virtuoso sitarist from a long line of influential musicians of the Delhi Gharana (lineage) dating back to the early 13th century. He plays in the Gayaki Ang or vocal style, one of the most difficult sitar techniques in which the musician emulates the flexibility of the human voice by pulling the instrument’s strings sideways.  He studied music with a number of prominent musicians including his father Ustad Imdad Hussain and the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar. Ikhlaq Hussain Khan, now based in New York, is committed to preserving and disseminating his musical heritage through concerts, performances and teaching. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Middle East, United Kingdom, Pakistan, and India. His most recent recording is Perfume of God (2009).
