Exhibition Opening Sherin Guirguis: A’aru // Field of Reeds Part II
Sherin Guirguis
During the two weeks of her residency, Sherin Guirguis has been creating a mixed media work on-site at Shangri La – transforming the museum’s Playhouse into her studio to produce an original work in response to the museum and her research into landscapes, identity, and gender. The artwork will be displayed on-site at Shangri La during the opening of her exhibition, A’aru // Field of Reeds.
A’aru // Field of Reeds Part I is on view at the Honolulu Museum of Art, Arts of the Islamic World Gallery now through June 18, 2023.
A’aru // Field of Reeds Part II will be on display at the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design, Mughal Gallery.
A’aru, referring to the ancient Egyptian afterlife, considers the complexities of human relationships, shared trauma and healing, and the building of futures in community.
Light refreshments and beverages will be served by Middle Eats.
