At these new frontiers, where you don't have to be Muslim to create Muslim culture, are we seeing the emergence of an Islamic Avant-Garde - creative activity that causes a genuine “shock of the new”? Abdul-Rehman Malik explores the meaning and impact of an “Islamic Avant-Garde” and how it is changing the way “Muslim-ness,” is being expressed.
